Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a Finance Manager who is eager to lead and grow with our business. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual with expertise in accounting, cash flow management, and financial forecasting. Role summary:

The Finance Manager is responsible for assisting the Financial Controller with managing the overall financial operations for kreitmaker and its related entities. This role will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and analysis. This role involves ensuring financial accuracy, optimizing processes, managing inventory, and providing strategic recommendations to drive our company's financial success. With a focus on leadership and innovation, this position offers an exciting opportunity to help shape our financial future and contribute to our ongoing growth and success in the construction industry.

 

Location and hours:

This is an onsite role, working mainly out of our 31 Industrial Street location, Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. This role will also be required to work out of our other GTA locations when needed.


Salary range:

$85,000 - $95,000 / year

 

Roles and responsibilities:

 

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee accounting operations, including reviewing journal entries, monthly remittances (e.g., HST, WSIB), payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Administer funds according to approved budgets and monitor financial expenditures.
  • Assist the Controller in preparing period-end financial statements accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Optimize the use of accounting systems and develop and distribute training in accounting software and other accounting policies and processes to impacted business users.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Conduct variance and profitability analysis, explain financial performance, and identify cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Forecast and manage cash flow effectively. 
  • Perform data analysis as requested; leverage data to develop and present ad hoc reports supporting business initiatives. 
  • Conduct quarterly financial performance review meetings with key leaders.

Inventory Management

  • Oversee inventory management from an accounting perspective and analyze SKU performance.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and retail teams to ensure accurate inventory accounting.
  • Organize and implement period-end inventory counts in coordination with key leaders.

Special Projects

  • Develop and manage initiatives to streamline accounting operations and financial reports using digital solutions, automation, and AI.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the executive team to inform strategic decisions.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and capital allocation decisions.
  • Support implementation of new systems or projects from a strategic finance and internal control perspective

Risk Management 

  • Stay updated with regulations, tax laws, reporting requirements, and industry trends.
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks, including credit, market, and operational risks.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls and procedures.

Leadership

  • Manage, mentor, and coach accounting team members. 
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews in collaboration with Financial Controller and Human Resource Director.
  • Plan and conduct regular meetings with the accounting team to ensure ongoing success.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure that all health, safety, and security regulations are adhered to and required standards are met.
  • Follow all health, safety, and security regulations, and wear appropriate PPE, as required for the situation.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or other)
  • 5 + years of experience of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of corporate accounting and financial management
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and local requirements regarding financial records 
  • High level of critical and logical thinking with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills 
  • Financial analysis, budgeting, and some strategic planning experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications
  • Strong understanding of budget preparation and analysis techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • Management and or supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate team members.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, with a demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new software.

 

Working conditions:

  • Workdays and hours: In-person Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with 30-minute paid lunch
  • Travel within the GTA to other locations is required – a G2 driver's license is considered an asset.
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
